Elin
Oil is considered as the most integrated private Greek company in
the
energy sector, that doesn't belong to a refinery-owning
group of companies. It is a company worthy of its very good name, with
a significant infrastructure in fixed assets, but mainly a company
with a very strong team of experienced and capable staff, ready for
new conquests.
Two new conquests came in the form of floating terminals, basically
petroleum tanker ships with loading racks and trucks. Elin Oil recognized
that refueling petrol stations on the islands was not only expensive
but also dangerous in that you had petroleum delivery trucks on the
same ferries as tourists and everyday travelers.
Elin Oil had two new ships built to their requirements but needed
some way of keeping track of the amount of petrol that was being distributed
and when is was being distributed. Elin Oil contacted Kintec A. E.
(the Greek rep for GA-ESI) in Athens and asked them to undertake this
task. Kintec put together a truck loading facility aboard each ship
and used the GA-ESI PowerLoad as the preset. The TMS3000 was installed
as the main control system. The TMS3000 communicates to the Elin Oil
back office system via satellite so that when one of the ships pulls
into a harbor, the ship has the latest order information. Likewise
when an order is loaded aboard one of the trucks for distribution,
the loaded amount is immediately sent to the Elin Oil back office system
for processing.
Elin Oil's
strategic choices, i.e. the continuous development of infrastructure,
complete devotion to punctual and
reliable customer
service, the implementation of original and radical ideas, and especially,
people-oriented management have made it one of the leaders in liquid
fuels in the Greek market.
