Area Monitors

General Atomics Electronic Systems, Inc. (GA-ESI) Area monitors are Local Control Units (LCU) that are microprocessor-based for monitoring nuclear radiation using detectors that are optimized for each application. There are two basic types of LCU’s, Model LCU-04 that is 33lbs and operates with up to 4 different detectors (gamma, beta, or neutron) while Model LCU-05 is smaller and lightweight (14lbs) and operates up to two gamma detectors, choosing from five various multiple decade ranges.
